           Dr Wes Maru, Managing Director &amp;amp; Technologist of UBIETY Technologies and ENCASE Project Lead has just returned after attending the annual ENCASE consortium meeting organised by the National Engineering Laboratory (NEL) TUV-SUD in Glasgow, Scotland.
          &#xD;

           "Our contribution to the ENCASE project is maturing for delivery where we were tasked to develop innovate devices and technologies:

            Develop, design, build, and commission a novel primary standard (4-inch piston prover) for liquid and supercritical CO

        &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

            , a novel and challenging application that required a series of innovations.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Develop CFD models for the essential parts of the flow meter – including aspects of turbulent flow, compressibility, and thermal effects on the material through cubic Equation of State in the opensource CFD code OpenFOAM.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Develop and manufacture novel and high-resolution ultrasonic flow meters to simultaneously measure volumetric flow rate and speed of sound.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ol&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           We are delighted to contribute both to the EU’s and UK’s ambitious goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions under a project that brings together various stakeholders, including research institutions, operators, manufacturers, academia, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with the goal of enhancing competitiveness in the CCS industry. ENCASE’s cradle to grave approach for CCS makes the consortium a great forum to learn from and collaborate with leading experts."

      <title>ENCASE Third General Assembly in France</title>

           The Third General Assembly of ENCASE took place at University Technology Compiègne (UTC), France, on November 21st/22nd, 2024.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ENCASE is an EU funded project that brings together Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage researchers, operators, manufacturers, academia, and SMEs to increase competitiveness in the industry.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Dr Wes Maru participated in the GA representing our effort in three areas of deliverables for Liquid and Supercritical CO2 metrology – namely:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           a) The Development and Commissioning of Novel Compact Prover as a Primary Standard,

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           ENCASE is organised in 7-work packages where the interaction and knowledge transfer between, and the key deliverables from each work packages is expected to dramatically alter our understanding and utilisation of such technologies as the primary engineering solutions in the global effort to reduce emitted carbon dioxide.

            gave a presentation detailing the technical intricacies of the Novel Primary Measurement standard (a Piston Prover) and the Secondary Standard (UBIETY (R) Flow Meter) that can capture the compressible Liquid and Supercritical CO2 (multiphase) flows - including our innovative 4-way and 3-position linear valve with no hydraulic null, a significant departure and improvement from current valves used in aerospace flight control.
            &#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
        
            The EU has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 and becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Deployment of Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) from different industrial sectors across Europe is a powerful fast track approach to abate CO₂ emissions. The consortium includes 20 partners from 6 different countries. It is with this collaborative spirit that we contribute to the

           The kick-off meeting for the launch of the four year Horizon Europe ENCASE project was concluded on the 3rd of March 2023 in Oslo, Norway.

These technologies and products will participate in a benchmark test and calibration at NEL (UK) and IFE (Norway), making the UK the leading global player in decarbonisation.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Through successful execution of the project, the ENCASE partners will greatly enhance the capability of RIs while also enabling safer, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly operation of CCUS infrastructures to accelerate the reduction greenhouse gas emissions towards Net-Zero.

           This year marked the Conference’s 40th anniversary, and in celebration, the event’s dinner was held at the Hotel Aston La Scala in Nice, France.
